Groceries, Negronis, and Great Company: A Cozy Day in Vienna

Today, I slept in until 11 a.m., then did some cleaning around my room. At 1 p.m., I went to the university diner with my sister, where I had a Schnitzel with baked potatoes and jam, and it tasted amazing. Right after lunch, I went grocery shopping at Spar and got everything I needed.

At 5 p.m., I met a guy from my university who’s also from my home country. We sat down at a terrace, had a Negroni, and talked about our lives. After a couple of hours, I talked to an old friend from high school to meet, and we had a great catch-up over drinks until 9 p.m. at a place called Sky bar Steffl

When I got back to my student dorm, I was starving, so I made myself dinner—some chicken nuggets in the air fryer with French fries and ketchup on the side.

Today I woke up at 8:30 a.m. because I had a class that started at 9:45. I was really sleepy, but I managed to arrive on time. After that class, I had another one at 11:30, but I skipped it because it's really boring and the classroom is always hot, so I preferred to look over the PowerPoint at home. On my way back to the dorm, I stopped to do some grocery shopping and then headed straight home. When I got to my room, I made myself a sandwich and went back to bed because I was exhausted. I woke up at 4 p.m. and returned to university for a class that started at 4:45, which I really enjoy. It’s about marketing, and the teacher is great—he knows how to make his presentations interesting for the students. Afterwards, I went back home and had a chat with my sister. Then, I cooked some pasta with pesto sauce for dinner, which turned out really delicious. After eating, I did the dishes and went to bed to watch my series and relax a bit.

Getting into University in Vienna

Today, I moved to Vienna as an international student to study Publizistik- und Kommunikationswissenschaften at the University of Vienna (UniWien). I took the entrance exam on August 29th, which consisted of 80 questions from a 150-page book that I had to study. Additionally, there were 18 word analogy exercises, followed by 8 matrix questions (not related to mathematics). I found out the same day that I got into the university, as only 715 people showed up for the exam, out of 970 available spots. After I got in, I spent the whole day in Vienna. I went to EBI, a really nice "all-you-can-eat" restaurant near Stephansplatz that serves sushi and other Asian dishes. In the evening, I visited Steffl Skybar and had a Moscow Mule cocktail. Fast forward to today—after moving in, I had to fill out some paperwork to prove that I am a student here and that I will be living in Vienna for the coming years. Exploring Vienna

  I start university on October 1st, so I have around 10-11 days to explore the city. That’s exactly what I did this morning. I woke up at 8:30, got on the subway, and headed to Taborstraße, where I had breakfast at McDonald's—a wrap with avocado, scrambled eggs, tomato, and bacon. Afterward, I visited a bookstore and bought a bestseller titled Think and Grow Rich , which I plan to read in the coming days. Then, I went to see the Votivkirche (which is shown on the screen) and decided to visit my university, which isn’t too far from the church. I took some pictures there that I’ll be posting on my Instagram page, @victor_in_vienna. After lunch, I started reading the book I bought earlier, and then I went to the gym at the student dorm for my daily workout.
